Retrospective 2025

A collection of paintings and drawings from my portfolio made over the course of 2025

I knew with the impending move I was going to have a fallow art period. Between that and seeing other artists do their end-of-year posts, it made me want to try collaging my output together to get a perspective on my 2025 artistic journey.

This year I discovered a joy working in a more sketchy form, lots of pencil, charcoal, monochrome pieces. Of course I also made a number of paintings, several of which I am quite proud of. I completed the Kimodameshi challenge in March. And I did a whole mess of gesture/figure drawing.

One thing I noticed when I had this all put together. You can tell that I’m right handed. I often do little flourishes for the backgrounds, and those usually have a north-easterly orientation. It’s particularly noticeable with the portraits of my wife, Luna, and Toni Collette.
